Throwback to the Andouilles Fair of Val-d'Ajol, 2023 edition!

Published on 3 March 2023

The month of February has begun, I can't wait for the sausage fair to arrive! Every year I look forward to it with great impatience, firstly because I like to eat good things, and sausage and gandoyau, I love it. Then, the atmosphere of the fair, the good humor that reigns there, the stalls, all that makes me happy. Being originally from Ajolais, this explains it!

the 57rd chapter of the Andouilles Fair

It was with mild weather, and even with a sunny day on Monday, that the 57th chapter of the Andouilles Fair took place, on February 18, 19 and 20, 2023.
With more than 50000 visitors, these three days were magnificent. On the program, garage sales, gourmet market, book fair, fairground market and of course the competition for the best andouille sausage pie.
Among all these activities also took place the famous inductions. More than 60 people joined the Confrérie des Taste-Andouilles du Val d'Ajol, on our famous “Place aux andouilles”, so named for the event. No less than 35 other brotherhoods were present during these three days.

The unmissable gourmet market

During this event, on Sunday, I held the stand of the tourist office under the marquee of the gourmet market. A good-natured atmosphere between exhibitors and visitors was felt. Several thousand people crossed the marquee, leaving with various foodstuffs… and especially kilos of andouilles!

Inductions of the brotherhood of Taste-Andouilles du Val-d'Ajol

On Monday morning, I attended the inductions. Our director being inducted, along with my colleagues, we couldn't miss it.
It was a nice moment, where the inductees must take an oath, hang the andouille and have a friendly gesture towards a little pig. All this, as said above, on the Place de l'Andouille.

These three “andouillic” days ended with my parents, around a good sauerkraut accompanied by andouille, and the famous dry white wine from Pouilly, of course!
