Housed in a recently restored former residence of a canoness from the 18th century, it has seen successive owners of art lovers and artists, and has retained the character and charm of a house of collectors and artists. A real time travel. Its centerpiece is “The Old Man with his Satchel” by Georges de La Tour, known only from forty works preserved in the world, without forgetting the portrait of the Mauresse by Moret and the engravings by Rembrandt, Callot, Goya. With a rich heritage of paintings, works of art and furniture, it allows visitors to discover a house fully furnished and decorated in the style of the first half of the 19th century. The park of the museum has two fountains from the 18th century which are classified as Historic Monuments. The Friry Museum benefited from extension works, modernization of facilities and accessibility in 2020: Pierre Waidmann's studio is reconstructed and dedicated to his work and behind the scenes of his preparatory work (binding, engraving, photography, drawing , painting), the 18th century pharmacy (historic monument) of the Remiremont hospital, a room on the works of Charles Friry, and new works from the reserves.
