The Noirgueux stele commemorates the crossing of the Moselle by soldiers of the 36th American Infantry Division on September 21, 1944, during their mission to liberate the city of Remiremont. These soldiers risked their lives in this historic operation. Every year, a commemorative ceremony with realistic reconstructions takes place on the same date. The town of Saint-Nabord has also created an educational trail dedicated to the Noirgueux moraine to better understand this event.
