HIKING - OUTREMONT AND THE CROIX DE JARANCEAU

Access: East of Val-d'Ajol. Parking: Park in the Outremont parking lot. Distance: 7,7 km / Duration: 2 h 30 / Elevation: 220m / Marking: red ring. 1 Start from the hamlet of Outremont (a parking lot for visitors has been set up at a crossroads). Head towards the densest and oldest part of the hamlet. Browse the hamlet from bottom to top (numerous fountains and crosses). 2 A dirt road on the right leads to the said Angleys (largest ordeal in the town but it lacks its crosspiece). 3 Continue the ascent by the road, turn left at the first opportunity then right before reaching a farm. 4 Walk 200m there and back to admire one of the oldest sculpted crosses from the 5th century. Continue towards the forest. Cross the paved road. 6 Take a path that marks the boundary between Lorraine and Franche-Comté with very special boundary markers (cross of St André and cross of Lorraine). 7 Leave the border path on the left to join the small Combelles road. At the next crossroads, take a paved road that passes in front of the ONF refuge chalet. XNUMX Cross a major crossroads where several forest paths converge. Go down a short steep slope to the left. The trail joins a paved road downstream. Follow it to complete the course.
